![]() Regardless of the level of detail and precision, die-cast toys are more durable than hollow-structure toys made of steel sheets or plastic. Figure 11 shows the level of detail that can be integrated into metallic die-cast models, especially when several different cast components are assembled together. The majority of die-cast toys are made from zamak, which is a zinc alloy containing small amounts of aluminium and copper.Īn attractive feature of die-cast toy production is the ability to produce highly detailed precision models, as compared to those made from wood, plastic and sheet steel. ![]() Production of die-cast toys started early in the twentieth century. Figure 10 Die-casting machine consisting of a plunger to push the molten metal into a two-piece die made from tool steelĪs the injection system and the die (mould) are both made of steel, most die-cast products are made from metals with lower melting points such as zinc, copper, aluminium, magnesium, lead and their alloys. Dynacast offers both our proprietary multi-slide die cast tooling, as well as conventional die cast tooling. Once hardened, the tooling is separated into multiple pieces, allowing for the removal of the castings. So, the plunger pushes the molten metal through the pressure chamber and sprue, into the cavity. Tooling, or the die cast mold, contains a cavity in which molten metal is injected and formed. There are twenty toolmakers and three design engineers at this facility with over 40 years of tooling experience. The right-hand part of the die (the ejector die) has two horizontal ejector pins from the cavity through to the outside. The tool design process At Dynacast, all of our die cast molds are manufactured and produced with high-quality steel at our tooling division in Germantown, Wisconsin. The left part is called the cover die, and it contains a horizontal tube through it (the sprue) that supplies the liquid. The die contains two parts that join to form the cavity which will be filled with metal. The plunger is a solid cylinder that pushes the liquid towards the right. Fresh liquid is supplied from a funnel-shaped reservoir above this chamber. The supply side has a horizontal cylinder containing the molten metal (the pressure chamber). Diecast & Toy Vehicles Vintage Manufacture TONKA NYLINT HAND RIVET TOOL FOR 1/8 RIVETS AND OTHER PRESS STEEL TRUCKS With a proven track record of more than. I also paint the inside of the toy which Dinky never did on. The material is supplied from the parts on the left-hand side, into the die on the right hand side. I place a decal on the inside of most toys I restore, Diecast Toyguy, red on yellow background.
